Hi Yanto,
Thanks for sharing with me the magic words used by P Ramlee in 'Ali Baba Bujang Lapok' (1961). My guess is, of the million people who had watched the film only a few could transcribe the words as accurate as you. I read somewhere that the original idea came from S Shamsuddin. Wonder whether it has any meaning in Indonesian dialects?

Hi Alejandro,
The funny fat guy in 'Ali Baba Bujang Lapok' (1961) you mentioned is H M Busra. But I can't recall his character's name in the film. Maybe somebody in this group can help?

Hi Yanto,
Terima kasih kerana pertanyaan kamu. Harap bersabar.

Hi Umi,
Awak sudah pun menjadi ahli fans club P Ramlee! :)

Seeloknya jika awak terlebih dahulu mengisi e-borang fans' register di P Ramlee Cyber Museum. Ini supaya kami tahu keterangan lanjut misalnya, lokasi, kegemaran, dsb.nya supaya tidaklah kami menghantar perkara yang tak berkaitan. Anyway is OK.

Hi Ronney,
Welcome on board! I have met a good number of P Ramlee fans online - multi-racial, multi-national. Nice to hear about your childhood experience in Singapore. I managed to see only a few P Ramlee films at the old cinemas (laterday Merdeka Studio productions). Any comments, enquiries, information (in news, text and image format) are welcomed to be shared with other fans like you.

Hoi Hoi Ya Hoi (Lagu Penyamun)
hoi hoi yahoi, hoi hoi yahoi
hoi hoi yahoi, hoi yahoi
kita semua gembira
hoi hoi ya pulang dapat harta
wang berjuta

mari kita lekas ke gua
bawa harta semua
janganlah tunggu lama-lama
simpanlah segera

Subject: P Ramlee

Hi Khasnul,
It is our very intention to provide music MP3 and video clips at the P Ramlee Cyber Museum. We have put in place the infrastructure for that. Once the legal and technical issues are sorted out (in the context of whole Internet regime), we should able to launch such services soonest. As professional Internet practitioner and content creator ourselves, we don't engage in illegal activities like Napster or other entertainment websites. Ideally, there should be payments made for P Ramlee materials that will pass on to his estate (i.e. surviving children) in the form of copyrights royalties.

Khasnul wrote:

If thats the case, why is there a section for mp3 and clips in this webpage, complete with icons for mp3 and clip for download. dont you think its kind of misleading.

Subject: P Ramlee Memorial

Hi Abdul Latiff,
1. Last time I visited the P Ramlee Memorial in Kuala Lumpur was about a year ago. They were doing renovation to extend the place. I agree with you the building structure should be left exactly as it was when P Ramlee lived there. If Arkib Negara need additional space they should acquire an adjacent house and covert that into a digital cinema hall, souvenir stall, cafe and other income generating activities for maintenance of the memorial. BTW, there is another P Ramlee memorial at his birthplace in Pulau Pinang. I have not been there. If you have opportunity to visit kindly forward me any information.

2. P Ramlee had two sons, Mohamad Nasir and Arfan, from his marriage to Junaidah Daeng Haris (his first wife). Subsequent to her divorce, Junaidah left for Indonesia with Arfan and remarried. If you study the photo of Arfan (available at the Cyber Museum) you would notice he has curly hair and facial bone structure similar to a young P Ramlee.

Abdul Latiff wrote:

>Hello there? Saya ni peminat P Ramlee. Baru-baru ni iaitu hari Sabtu yg lepas saya dan keluarga mengunjungi Pustaka Peringatannya. U know once I masuk kat Pustaka tu I rasa sebak sekali, I don't know why. Although I found the Pustaka good, I can't help wondering why didn't they preserved the house like it used to be before. I mean keeping everything intact. Ni takde semuanya diubahsuai. Kalau tidak at least we know how Allahyarham P Ramlee used to live. Anyway the reason I e-mail to u is because I found yr website good and informative.
>
>FYI I tak tahu yg P.Ramlee ada lagi satu anak lelaki iaitu Arfan. Yg I tahu cuma Nasir and Sazali, itu pun a lot of people said that Sazali was his adopted son. Even Pustaka Peringatannya didn't mentioned about this Arfan. Suprising right! Therefore do keep up the good job. One more thing why is this Arfan name not mentioned in the media n why only Nasir???? Afterall he is P Ramlee's son right?

Hi Mazneeza,
FYI, there are 390 P Ramlee songs per our record. We will try to provide lyrics for every song at the Cyber Museum after we done other contents for P Ramlee. Here are the lyrics for 'Engkau Laksana Bulan' that you requested.

Engkau Laksana Bulan
engkau laksana bulan
tinggi di atas kayangan
hatiku dah kau tawan
hidupku tak keruan

mengapa ku diseksa
kenapa kita bersua
berjumpa dan bercinta
tetapi menderita

o...o...o...o...o...o...o...o
kau cabutlah nyawaku *

oh tuhanku
mengapa kah
kau bezakan hidupku
oh tuhanku
mengapa kah
manusia begitu

o...o...o...o...o...o...o...o
kau cabutlah nyawaku *

oh tuhanku
mengapa kah
jadi miskin hidupku
oh tuhanku
mengapa kah
sangat buruk nasibku

mengapa ku diseksa
kenapa kita bersua
berjumpa dan bercinta
tetapi menderita

* (new version: kau tinggalkan diriku)

Hi Adskan,
I'm not too sure what song you are referring to. The lyrics you given sound a bit alien to me :) Maybe I'll wait until I see 'Bujang Lapok' (1957) next time. From what you wrote, the song could be 'Tanjong Katong'. It is a Malay traditional song, not an original composition by P Ramlee. I don't seem to find it in my P Ramlee reference books either. But let me know if you could find the right song title.

Subject: P Ramlee Events

Hi Clare,
The P Ramlee music books you mentioned: 'Irama Lagu', 'Gelora' and 'Air Mata Di Kuala Lumpur' were published by the Malaysian Harvard Club under the patronage of Tan Sri Ahmad Sarji who is the club president. These books were compiled in collaboration with Johari Salleh and arguably the best resource on P Ramlee music. I don't have contacts for the club.

I remember reading Ahmad Sarji's statement in the press a few years ago that the books are available from the club. But price for each book is exorbitant, about RM100 each. This supposedly to support the activities of the club. Bad news for the fans of P Ramlee.

Hi Elyas,
Thanks for your enquiry.

At present we are not able to provide P Ramlee MP3 at The P Ramlee Cyber Museum. It has to do with copyrights laws. In the future, we plan to collaborate with EMI and other copyrights owner of P Ramlee works to make that downloadable at the website.
